The Cub Scout programme provides a wide range of activities designed to be fun, but challenging, with a focus on learn-by-doing experiences for children aged between 8 and 10½.
Expect plenty of adventure, earn badges, build friendships and confidence. Cub Scouts aims to instil values like leadership, teamwork, and community involvement, all while fostering a love for the outdoors and a sense of responsibility.
We always have a busy programme planned with trips and days out, places like zoos, theme parks, museums and sleepovers at places like the local library and more recently the National Sea Life Centre. Cubs will also be able to go camping, we are fortunate to only be a short drive to Blackwell where we often plan weekends away. Cubs will get to put up and sleep in tents, join in with loads of outdoor activities and of course roasting marshmallows by the fire!
Cub Scouting has a long-standing tradition of incorporating the theme of “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling. This inspires our activities; leader names and helps connect today’s Cub Scouts to the history and values of Scouting.
Our Cub Scouts are grouped into “Sixes” to allow for closer bonds and friendships to form. Each Six is led by a Cub Scout known as a “Sixer,” who is responsible for helping to lead and organise the group. This promotes leadership and personal development which ensures positive role models are always there to inspire newcomers throughout their journey within Scouting.
